Claim and verify your listing

Search for your business first

Open Google Maps on your phone. Search your business name. Then search your telephone number. Google makes listings from public information, so a listing can exist. Sometimes two listings exist.

If you find a listing, do not make a new one. Claim the listing that exists. Two listings divide your reviews. Google can also suspend both listings.

Use a permanent account

Use a Google account that the business keeps for many years. Do not use the personal email address of an employee. If another person made your listing, send an ownership request to Google.

Complete the verification

Google needs proof of a real business. Usually you record a short video. Show your sign, your work vehicle, your tools, and proof of your control of the business. Record the video one time, with good light. Do not edit it.

If the verification fails, do not make more listings. Correct the problem that Google gives you. Then try again.

Add other people safely

An employee or a marketing company can help you. Add these people as a manager. The business stays the owner. If the work stops, remove their access.
